     For over four decades Ray Godwin has provided owners with a comprehensive canine training program, making owners better and more successful and their dog’s better hunters and companions!  Ray started training in 1978.  Since that time, Ray has earned an astonishing 565 titles on his client’s dogs, as well as his own dogs.
     To keep a competitive edge, Webfoot Retrievers competes in AKC Retriever, Pointing, and Spaniel flushing; hunt test/field trials, obedience trials, and conformation shows.

     ​Gun Dog training timeline varies from dog to dog.  No two dogs will complete their training in the same time.  Each dog is an individual.  The time put into training will separate a good Gun Dog from a great Gun Dog.  An obedient, genteel Retriever, Pointer, or Spaniel is your reward for your patience through his training.  Owners of such well-trained Gun Dogs will receive compliments on his behavior, both in the home and in the field.

​     Once your Gun Dog has completed his formal training, Webfoot Retrievers will give you the knowledge to continue successfully training him at home.  This will keep your Gun Dog sharp and focused throughout the off-season.

Webfoot Retrievers bi-weekly “Gun Dog Field Training Classes” are open to:

• Gun Dogs enrolled in Webfoot Retrievers training.  Owners will train with Ray Godwin learning the proper handling skills to work successfully with their dog.
• Owners training their own Gun Dog can take advantage of the grounds, equipment, birds, and the professional training assistance of Webfoot Retrievers.
• Gun Dog puppies, over the age of 16 weeks, ready to take their first steps toward Gun Dog training under the professional guidance of a proven, successful trainer, Ray Godwin.

Labrador Retriever Training

     Webfoot Retrievers believes that a key to success is to begin your Retriever, Pointer, or Spaniel training at a young age.  Most dogs are ready to start this training between 4 and 6 months of age.  Webfoot Retrievers welcome Dogs up until 5 years of age for training.
     *All dogs accepted into Webfoot Retrievers training must be up-to-date on their core vaccinations and be microchipped.

German Shorthaired Pointer Training Webfoot Retrievers

​     A well trained Retriever, Pointer, or Spaniel is a great partner in the field. Your Retriever, Pointer, or Spaniel could double your game count by reducing the number of lost game and alerting you to game you might have missed.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever Training

​     Webfoot Retrievers understands the long-term commitment and investment you have made in your Gun Dog.  To maximize your return, have Webfoot Retrievers train your Retriever, Pointer, or Spaniel to his full potential.

Gordon Setter Training

​      Webfoot Retrievers has outdoor, covered kennels as well as indoor kennels that are equipped with high volume fans, for cooling in the summer, and heated in the winter.  During the day when not training, Gun Dogs are in a supervised secure exercise yard with access to a pond! Kennels are steam cleaned and disinfected daily. Webfoot Retrievers separates bitches in season, from dogs at all times.

Labrador Retriever Training

     ​Webfoot Retrievers transports Gun Dogs for field training or competition, in a custom-made 22-stall trailer. The design of the trailer was with the dogs in mind, low entries to ensure dogs do not injure their joints entering or exiting the stalls, thermometers to continuously monitor stall temperatures, misters and fans for cooling which replenish air every 4 seconds, hot water radiant heating for the winter, cushioned rubber stall mats, 100-gallon fresh water supply.  The trailer is equipped with three sets of electric brakes and made of steel to offer the utmost protection to the travelling Gun Dogs.
